District and State Testing
The state of Minnesota uses statewide testings to measure student achievement.
State tests are given in a district once a year, based on grade and subject. Statewide tests, in addition to classroom tests and quizzes, give educators an idea of how well their students are learing the topics and ideas presented in the clasroom.
State testing data by district or school can be found using the Data Center on the Minnesota Department of Education Website. You can also access this information using the links on the left side bar.
Additional resources, including item samplers, and Pearson's Perspective, are available on the Pearson Access Next website. Item samplers can help students understand and become comfortable with the format and content included on the state tests.
MCA Results will be handed out at Fall conferences or mailed if not picked up the year following when the test was given.
Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA)
The MCA and alternate assessment (MTAS) are the state test that help districts measure progress toward Minnesota's academic standards and meet federal and state legislative requirements. Most students will take the MCA, but students who recieve special eduacation and meet certain criteria may take the alternate assessment instead.
The list below shows at what grade level each MCA specific test is given.
